ABSTRACT

The growth of mobile telephony in Brazil has generated a significant increase in the number of cell phones subjected to forensic examinations. Specialized tools aimed to the forensic examination of mobile phones and SIM cards help to tackle this problem, but they usually provide reports with limited customization options. Most tools, however, allow exporting the captured data in XML (eXtensible Markup Language) format. Using the LibreOffice suite and XSLT (eXtensible Stylesheet Language for Transformation) transformation filters, it is possible to automatically convert the data captured by various forensic tools directly into customized and standard reports. The use of these filters allowed an enormous gain in productivity and quality on cell phone forensic reports.
